Shawn Mendes had a surprise in store for the crowd at London’s O2 Arena on Saturday night (Aug. 16). Midway through the show, the pop star welcomed longtime friend and former One Direction member Niall Horan to the stage for a live rendition of Horan’s 2016 debut solo single, “This Town.”
It marked Horan’s first time back onstage since the passing of his former bandmate Liam Payne in October 2024, making the moment even more emotional. Fans inside the arena erupted into deafening cheers as Mendes introduced him, saying with a grin, “Everybody please welcome Mr. Niall Horan to the stage.”
“I love you… and I love this guy. Take care of him,” Horan said with a big grin, pointing toward Mendes as the arena erupted in cheers. Sharing a clip of the duet later, Mendes captioned it, “I’ll remember this for a long time. Thank you so much London.”
This wasn’t their first onstage link-up either, back in March 2024, Mendes surprised fans at Horan’s The Show: Live on Tour stop in London by joining him to perform his own hit, “Treat You Better.”
